Muck heap fire at pony farm
Setting fire to your muck heap is not such a good idea! One of our liveries thought he was doing us a favour by doing so but it slightly back fired. The fire started to burn with gusto & was getting close to a barn with hay in, plus we were ready to go home so we thought we had better put it out. A normal hose wasnt having any effect because it was so hot so we used a tool we had bought for bathing the ponies called a bathing blade. Its an attactment to put on a hose, a long blade with holes in it so the water comes out like a jet washer. Boy that done the trick! Two of of us turned over the hot straw while my friends daughter soaked every thing with the blade. It took ages but eventualy we put out the fire.
